Portmore teams merge for skittles competition

ONLY ONE TEAM has been representing Portmore in the Wray & Nephew White Overproof skittles competition which moves into its fourth round tomorrow with six matches scheduled.

Formerly, Portmore was represented by both Meadowvale and The Dip from Gregory Park. However, Meadowvale have not entered this competition, preferring to merge with The Dip for the time being. A spokesman for The Dip said this has worked to their benefit, as Portmore is now represented by a 'very strong team'.

To date, The Dip have played two matches, losing the first, 7-4 against champions Rowe's Strikers at home but coming back last Sunday in another home match to trash Waltham Strikers 8-3.

The Dip's first scheduled match against high riding Cherry's Strikers had to be postponed owing to a funeral.

Tomorrow, The Dip will journey to upper Walthan Park Road where they will meet Starliners in an away match.

Elsewhere in the competition, which has been divided into two zones (six teams in each), the unbeaten teams are Rowe's Strikers, Eastern All-Stars and Cherry's Strikers.

Meanwhile, Galaxy from Red Hills Road scored a notable upset last Sunday with a 6-5 (6-4) win over Track Price Plus at Galaxy.
