Frome full of confidence

If Boysie Nicholson is right then the daCosta Cup will remain in Westmoreland for at least another year as he is confident that his charges at Frome will go all the way.

After getting the better of Clarendon College to claim the Ben Francis Cup, Frome earned themselves another meeting with them following a 1-0 win over Bog Walk on Saturday.

On Saturday Frome looked a shadow of the fluent organised unit that took care of everything in their path. Being the calm individual that he is, however, coach Nicholson was unconcerned about the manner of the victory. In fact he was full of praise for them.

"I think the boys did well as we were carrying a number of injuries. Our entire midfield was different today, our right back is out, we have one player who we are not sure about and another one has a broken leg," said Nicholson explaining that his squad was not at full strength.

Groin injury

In addition to the injured who did not take part Nicholson team had to contend with a groin injury to the dangerous Obrian 'Beckham' Woodbine and a back injury to the skilful Kesrick Samuels which kept him out of training for more than a week.

Because of their limitations, Nicholson said that his players tried to do the basics correctly, keep possession of the ball and that they achieved their objective of winning.

"We are not concentrating on who we will meet we just wanted to be in the semi-finals and we have achieved that so we will take it from there," a relaxed Boysie Nicholson.

That Clarendon College will be their opposition is of little importance to the Frome camp as according to Nicholson they are not playing against names and each game is different. What his coaching staff will concentrate on ahead of Saturday's Jarrett Park showdown is getting the players ready "mentally and physically" for the big occasion.

"Many people will be looking at this as a big clash or say that it should be the daCosta Cup final but it does not matter who we play, we just have to go out there and do what we have to do," he said matter of factly.
