Trinidad and Tobago in World Cup 2006

Trinidad and Tobago Qualified for the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany by beating Bahrain 1:0 in Bahrain today.

The winning goal was scored by Dennis Lawrence in the 49th minute. This is the first time that Trinidad and Tobago has qualified for the World Cup.

Trinidad and Tobago becomes only the second English-speaking Caribbean country to qualify for the World Cup of Football, the first being Jamaica in 1998.

It was certainly joy for the team nicknamed the "Soca Warriors" who came close to qualifying for the 1990 World Cup Finals only to be then beaten 1:0 by the United States in Trinidad in a match they only needed to draw.

Trinidad and Tobago won the two-way tie against Bahrain 2:1 on aggregate.
