ISSA/Busta Rural Finals On Today

Richard Bryan, Gleaner Writer

The respective regional finals of both the ISSA/Busta Rural Under-16 and Under-14 football competitions will take place at separate venues today.

The St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) field in Santa Cruz will host one section of the Under-14 finals between the hosts and Cornwall College at 1:30 p.m. The other section will be hosted at Fogo Road High in May Pen between Vere Technical and Seaforth High, also at 1:30 p.m.

In the Under-16s, STETHS will host the Galloway Cup final between Cornwall College and Manchester High. The other Under-16 final, the Abner Wright Cup, will feature Clarendon College versus Glenmuir.

Two of the semi-finals were hosted at Manchester High earlier this week, where the hosts experienced mixed fortunes. They were beaten by STETHS 5-4 in sudden-death penalties after the game had ended 0-0. However, in the Under-16s, they turned back the challenge of Godfrey Stewart High 2-0. Both scorers in that game - Daniel Wint and Bobito Stewart - were members of the daCosta Cup team that failed to reach the semi-finals. Their opponents, Cornwall, defeated Rusea's in their semi-final.
