Grant, Clarke Will Be Special Guests
Two of Jamaica's most outstanding boxers, Bunny Grant and Richard 'Shrimpy' Clarke, will be honoured at the Wray & Nephew Rumble on JamRock title fight on December 8 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
Rumble on JamRock which is being presented by Premium Boxing Promotions and Sports-Max, will feature Jamaica's Nicholas 'The Axeman' Walters, who will join the elite circle of Jamaican boxers to challenge for a world title on home soil when he faces Colombia's Daulis Prescott for the World Boxing Association (WBA) world featherweight title. THE FIRST JAmaiCAN Grant has the honour of being the first Jamaican to fight for a world title on home soil when he fought for the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the WBA light welterweight titles, on April 18, 1964 against American Eddie Perkins. He lost on a unanimous decision. Clarke later followed as a challenger for the WBC world flyweight title on September 7, 1990, against Thailand's WBC champion Sot Chitalada, and suffered an 11th round knockout. Tickets for the fight card are available at Wyndham Kingston, all Western Sports locations and select Total gas stations. Tickets cost $3,500 for general admission and $6,500 for ringside VIP (food and drink inclusive). Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The six-fight card includes the Wray & Nephew Contender 2011 Champion Rikardo Smith along with two female title bouts ahead of the main WBA title event at 10:30 p.m.
