Robert Bailey, Gleaner Writer

Arnett Gardens midfielder Lamar Nelson is now celebrating his selection to the Reggae Boyz's squad for the Caribbean Cup Championships, which will be held in Antigua next month.

Nelson, who has been having a superb season in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), is among 10 local-based players selected by head coach Theodore Whitmore for the championships.

"It is phenomenal feeling to be selected in Jamaica's team for the Caribbean Championships," said the 21-year-old Nelson.

"It is a dream come true and I just have to give God thanks," he added.

Nelson, a crafty and skilful player, has netted five goals in the RSPL this season and is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the competition.

"My hard work is finally paying off, but it doesn't stop here because I want to play professional football overseas," said Nelson, who is a former Charlie Smith High Manning Cup standout.

The other local-based players are Jermaine Anderson, Joel Senior, Jermaine Hue, Rohan Reid, Ewan Grandison, André Lewis, Alvas Powell, Xavian Virgo and Jacomeno Barrett.

The overseas-based players are Dwayne Miller, Dwayne Kerr, Lovel Palmer, Demar Phillips, Tremaine Stewart, Jason Morrison, Andrae Campbell, Shavar Thomas, Jermiane Taylor, Je-Vaughn Watson, Dicoy Williams, Ryan Johnson, Omar Cummings, and Darren Mattocks.
