Lake wins FEI Category A Challenge

Adam Lake on Alexis Pegasus captivated the spectators with an awesome win, in the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) World Jumping Challenge Category A on the weekend - June 18 and 19 - at the Kingston Polo Club and Equestrian Centre.

He had two clear rounds on the first day and finished with only eight faults on the second day.

Johnathan Vaz on Shabba Ranks was no match for Lake's exquisite display of horsemanship, to place second with 16 faults; while Jason Walter was third on his horse, Shambal.

This competition is at the highest FEI (Federation Equestrian International) level done in Jamaica, with 1.20 metre jumps.

Lake is coached by Betty Wates (vice-president of the Equestrian Federation of Jamaica), who was pleased that there were six riders competing.

The six were Lake, Vaz, Walter, Frankie Chin, Gabriella Ralston and Justin Vaz. The number increased by two from last year, which had just four competitors in Category A.

The Low, Medium, High and Super League will take place, next weekend on Saturday, July 2.

The following day there will be competition in the Hi-Pro Grand Prix. All competitions will take place at the St Ann Equestrian and Polo Club, starting at 9 a.m. Admission is free.
