Powerful team set for Island Games

 
WORLD YOUTH silver medal-lists Meisha-Gaye DaCosta, Latoya McDermott and national junior 110m hurdles champion Kieron Stewart head a strong 17-member Jamaican delegation for next month's Island Games in New York.

DaCosta and McDermott, who took silver in the girls' high jump and 400m, respectively, at last year's World Youth Cham-pionships, and Stewart, who won the 110m hurdles at the CARIFTA Games, along with Manchester High's Natoya Goule, Shana-Gaye Tracey and Kemoy Campbell are the high-profile names.

The team will depart the island on June 6 and return on June 9.

BOYS: Earl Lee (100m, 4x100m); Warren Weir (110m, 4x100m); Andrew Riley (4x100m, high jump); Kimmari Roach (100m, 4x100m); Alwayne Green (800m, 4x400m); Andre Thomas (800m or 1500m, 4x400m); Kemoy Campbell (1500m, 4x400m); Kieron Stewart (4x400m, 110mH).

GIRLS: Rose-Marie Carty (100mH, 4x100m); Janelle Gordon (100mH, 4x100m); Chantel Adams (400m, 4x100m, 4x400m); Kaycea Jones (200m, 4x100m); Latoya McDermott (400m, 4x400m); Shana-Gay Tracey (400m, 4x400m); Nikita Tracey (800m, 4x400); Natoya Goule (800m, 4x400); Meisha-Gaye DaCosta (high jump).
