August Town, St Georges clash delayed

Keisha Hill, Staff Reporter

THE CLASH between bottom-of-the-table August Town and St Georges at the UWI Bowl in the Cash Plus Premier League was postponed yesterday because of Georges' involvement in the Portland Knockout competition.

St Georges have been competitive all season and were fancied to get the better of August Town. The Portland team is currently in sixth place on 33 points and has remained relatively stable in its last three encounters.

In St Georges' last match on Sunday, they drew 0-0 with Village United at Lynch Park. Before that, they defeated Harbour View 2-0 at Compound and Tivoli Gardens 1-0 at home.

Firmly placed

August Town are is still firmly placed at the bottom of the league on 21 points and will need a lot of help if they are to avoid relegation.

Despite playing fairly well throughout the season, August Town have failed on numerous occasions to capitalise on goal-scoring opportunities. In their last encounter, they went down 2-0 to Tivoli Gardens at the Edward Seaga Stadium. In previous encounters they were defeated 1-0 by Boys' Town and drew 1-1 with Waterhouse at home.

The date of the rescheduled game will be March 6.
