Five-timer for Adlam

by Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

Under-23 representative Alanzo Adlam slammed in five goals as Excelsior charged their way to a 6-0 hammering of Camperdown to move to the top of Group Two in the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup at Stadium East yesterday.

In Group One, Jamaica College and Wolmer's played their way to a meek 0-0 draw, leaving them second behind Bridgeport who lead the group with three points.

In a one-sided encounter, Adlam's speed often left the Camperdown defensive unit in tatters and it was he who broke away to open the scoring in the seventh minute.

Adlam would receive a helping hand from Camperdown custodian Mark Bryan who dropped a 14th-minute free kick into the back of the net, before another free kick, this time taken quickly, saw him bear down on the keeper to complete his hat-trick in the 26th minute.

Adlam was on the mark again in the 75th, substitute Valentino Fogo netted in the 88th and Adlam returned to close out the scoring with a powerful shot, driven low, in time added on.

The earlier encounter was a more balanced affair, but while JC controlled most of the possession, it was Wolmer's who must be ruing their missed opportunities.
