Sabina fans can dance to the beat of the game

Cricket fans attending tomorrow's semi-final match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand at Sabina Park will be able to take their musical instruments into the venue.

"This is the final match of the ICC World Cup 2007 in Jamaica, and the fact that it is the semi-final, the security directorate, in consultation with the ICC CWC Inc., has agreed to relax the security arrangements and allow the fans to carry their musical instruments," said Lisa O'Gilvie, LOC event manager, logistic and operations at Jamaica Local Organising Committee (LOC).

The decision to allow spectators to bring their musical instrument into the stadium was taken during the Super 8 stages of the competition. Before this decision spectators had to obtain prior approval from the local security committees.

"This is a welcome decision, as cricket fans can now enjoy the true Caribbean experience of the game," added O'Gilvie.

A bumper crowd, including several hundred New Zealanders and Sri Lankans, is expected to attend tomorrow's match, and patrons have also been reminded that if they wish to carry food they can do so only in plastic containers or collapsible coolers, size 12"x12"x12". No glass or metal containers will be allowed.

"The food containers will be subjected to search," said O'Gilvie.

"We want the public to participate and enjoy a good game of cricket and take fond memories of the tournament," she added.
