Wadadah give Boys' Town 7-2 whipping

Howard Walker, Staff Reporter

Harbour View, St. George's FC, Rivoli, Star Cosmos and Wadadah joined Portmore United in the second round of the Red Stripe Light Beach Futbol competition.

Wadadah gained maximum points in Group Six with a 7-2 thumping of Boys' Town as Andre Reid banged in four goals and was ably supported by Rohan Reid with two.

The towering Gregory Simpson banged in a brace as Harbour View edged Tafari Lions 3-2 to top Group Four ahead of Tivoli Gardens.

Advanced on goal difference

St. George's, although losing 3-5 to Clark's Town, advanced on goal difference from Group Two ahead of Maverley-Hughenden and Clark's Town. All finished on three points.

Ricardo Howell and Rohan Smith both scored twice for Clark's Town, while Dwayne Holmes bagged two for the losers.

Rivoli, after playing to a 3-3 draw with Naggo Head in regulation time, edged their St. Catherine counterparts 4-3 in extratime to top Group Three with maximum points ahead of Arnett Gardens.

Bounced back

Star Cosmos, which unfortunately, lost their opening game to Seba, bounced back in impressive fashion, trouncing Village 8-3 to top Group Five on goal difference.

Leighton McDonald and David Boswell each scored two goals for the St. Mary team.

In the day's first game, one of academic interest, Cleon Clunis scored three times as Waterhouse slammed Bath Sports Club 8-3, but had to settle for second-place behind the already-qualified Portmore United.

The second round match-up sees Portmore, St. George's and Rivoli FC grouped in Zone I, while Harbour View, Star Cosmos and Wadadah are in Zone II.

The two zone winners and the best second-place team overall will advance to the semi-finals where they will be joined by an Invitational Brazilian team.
