Fletcher, Strickland at Waterhouse

Waterhouse Football Club are on the verge of pulling off a coup in the second transfer window of the Cash Plus Premier League.

According to sources close to the club, they tied up a deal on Friday to secure the services of former Arnett Gardens' striker Leon Strickland and could soon add Roberto Fletcher, who previously played for them and only joined Tivoli Gardens in time for the September start to the season.

"I can tell you definitely that Strickland is a Waterhouse player ... we have a Jackie Bell Knock Out game on Wednesday I guarantee you will see him there," the source told The Gleaner.

While confirming that there were talks to reunite Fletcher, a man who added a lot of fight and presence to the Tivoli Gardens forward line, with Waterhouse, the source made it clear that there is still work to be done before Fletcher's move become a reality.

"Yes, he (Fletcher) could be on his way back here and has trained with the team.

Togetherness

"What is happening is that there is a mood in the community of togetherness and an attitude which seems to be saying let bygones be bygones. I think that is what has opened the door for him to return. If everything goes according to plan, I expect that his return could be confirmed this week," said the source of Fletcher, who was forced to leave the club due to tension between factions in the community.

Tivoli's manager Brian Rose confirmed on Saturday that Fletcher could be heading back home.

"It is true that we will not have the services of Fletcher as he has been saying that he wants to go back to Waterhouse. He has been saying that for over a week now so that is where it is at.

"We will see how it goes," said Rose.

Strickland's move to Waterhouse at this time is somewhat surprising as after indicating his desire to leave even before the opening of the transfer window and training with the club for weeks, he returned to Arnett Gardens following Jerome Waite's re-installment as coach.

Strickland even played and scored for Arnett Gardens on Sunday, January 20, Waite's second game in charge since his return.

That signaled to many that Strickland had returned to the fold and Waite on Wednesday last bemoaned his absence on Wednesday following their 0-0 draw with Seba United.
