Calabar face KC in key encounter

SECOND-ROUND action in the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup schoolboy football competition continues today with a double-header at the National Stadium East field.

High-riding Calabar, who just last week defeated Jamaica College (JC) 3-0 to win the Corporate Area Walker Cup Knockout crown, await Kingston College (KC) at 1:30 p.m.

KC, who have struggled in recent years to reach this stage, will be aiming to prove, not only that the brave may fall but never yield, but also to avenge their Champs defeat to the Red Hills Road-based boys.

The teams are long-time rivals in schoolboy competitions and though today's contest is not a final, it should be have a similar atmosphere. KC finished second behind Eltham in Group B and Calabar topped Wolmer's in Group C in the first round.

Looking to bounce back

In the day's other game, Group D winners Norman Manley will be looking to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat to Jamaica College (JC) in the Walker Cup quarter-finals when they tackle Charlie Smith at 3:30 p.m.

Norman Manley, who many observers believe had the toughest first-round group - which included Bridgeport and St. George's - should pose a huge hurdle for Charlie Smith to get over.
