Garvey Maceo added another important chapter in their unbeaten run in the 2007 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel schoolboy football season yesterday when they marched into the Ben Francis Knock out final with a 4-2 semi-final win over Dinthill Technical, at Brancourt in Clarendon.

By virtue of their semi-final win, their 10th victory in all competitions this season, the Jeffrey Hewitt-coached Garvey Maceo team, which topped Zone I of the daCosta Cup preliminary round ahead of reigning champions Glenmuir, will meet Rusea's in tomorrow's final at Jarrett Park.

"We were always confident of winning this game so a 4-2 result was basically acceptable to us," said coach Hewiit, whose team finally played the semi after three postponements due to inclement weather. "Interestingly, we played the game without three of our regular players who were out on yellow card suspension so today was a day in which we got a chance to look at the depth of this team. We are in an extremely positive frame of mind going into this final against Rusea's."

In what was another prolific outing for the Garvey Maceo team, which has had a string of big scores, top striker Ashton Bennett netted twice, bringing his tally of goals for the season to 25. Daniel Callaghan and Nickhail Howell accounted for the other two goals.

"The boys are quite excited about playing in the final because we have never won any of the big trophies (daCosta Cup and Ben Francis Cup) so this is a chance for them to create history," said Hewitt. "We have been hearing some rumblings out of the Rusea's camp, but we are not worried, our plan is to play good football and win this title."
